Hull Separation

Hull Separation

Precise separation after pea hulling

For this project, a separation line was integrated into an existing pea hulling plant. The objective was to reliably separate the hulls from the valuable pea fractions.

The key challenge were the very high requirements in accuracy. While the hulls are discharged as waste, the loss of usable product must be kept as low as possible.

Insights

After hulling, the product is first separated into different fractions by a vibrating screen type RKS. Each fraction is then processed by a Precision Aspirator Type RPA 1000. In the upward air stream, lighter hulls are separated from the heavier, usable product. Air volume, product feed and layer height can be adjusted to match the respective fraction and separation target.

After separation, the usable product is conveyed onward in a controlled process. The separated hulls are discharged separately. The aspiration and dedusting system ensures controlled air flow, clean operation and reliable integration into the existing plant environment.
