Gross Big Bag Filling System

Big Bag Filling Systems

Individual filling solutions for big bags, boxes and octabins

Our big bag filling systems are individually designed according to customer requirements. The range extends from simple manual or semi-automatic filling stations to high-capacity systems with net or gross weighing, automated sequences and integration into complete packaging lines.

Flexible solutions for different containers

Depending on requirements, big bags, boxes, octabins or other containers can be processed in one system. Combined solutions for big bag and bag filling are also possible. This creates flexible filling systems for seed, grain, blends, grass seed, food raw materials and other dry, free-flowing products.

We design our systems so that different filling weights and packaging types can be taken into account. This keeps the packaging process flexible and adaptable to different customer, product or logistics requirements.

Possible containers include:

  • big bags with 1, 2 or 4 loops
  • big bags from 500 to 1,200 kg
  • boxes
  • octabins
  • special containers according to customer requirements

From manual operation to high-capacity systems

Our big bag filling systems can be supplied in different automation levels.

Manual and semi-automatic filling stations

For smaller capacities or flexible applications, we offer simple and robust big bag filling stations. Operators attach the big bag, start the filling process and remove it manually or with a forklift.

  • filling frame
  • filling spout
  • bag clamp or inflatable sealing collar
  • platform scale
  • aspiration connection
  • forklift or roller conveyor discharge

Automated and high-capacity big bag filling systems

For medium to high capacities, the systems can be equipped with automated functions to reduce operator effort and increase process reliability. For high capacities and industrial packaging lines, we implement high-capacity systems with automated weighing, operator platforms, conveying technology, safety equipment and optional additional functions. Depending on the concept, capacities of up to 40 t/h are possible.

  • pneumatic loop hooks
  • big bag inflation device
  • automatic height adjustment
  • lifting and lowering for big bag settling and stacking
  • automatic weighing
  • roller conveyors or belt conveyors for discharge
  • PLC control with visualization
  • interfaces to higher-level control systems

Double filling systems for separated product streams

For applications with different product qualities or treatment types, big bag filling systems can be designed as double filling systems. This allows, for example, chemically treated and organic seed to be filled with hermetic separation.

Typical applications:

  • chemically treated seed
  • organic seed
  • electronically treated seed
  • separated product qualities within one plant

This configuration is particularly useful when different product streams must be processed reliably and separately without installing two completely separate packaging lines.

Combined systems for big bags and bags

For flexible packaging processes, big bag filling systems can be combined with bagging lines. Below a net scale the product is directed either to the big bag filling system or to the bagging line. These combined systems are particularly useful for companies that want to handle jumbo bags and bags with one compact and economical solution and a lower to medium hourly capacity.

  • buffer hopper
  • net scale
  • big bag filling spout
  • bagging spout for 20 to 50 kg bags
  • bag conveyors
  • sewing position or sewing line
  • aspiration connections
  • control system and weighing electronics

Calibratable weighing systems

We use two types of weighing systems, which can be used depending on the design and capacity of the filling system.

Net scales

With net weighing, the product is weighed precisely in a separate weighing hopper before filling. The defined quantity is then discharged rapidly. This solution is particularly suitable for very high capacities, short cycle times and precise filling processes.

  • calibratable weighing via weighing hopper
  • high filling capacity
  • short standstill times at the filling point
  • suitable for automated lines
  • ideal for high requirements regarding capacity and weighing accuracy

Gross scales

With gross weighing, the container stands on a platform scale during filling. The weight is recorded directly during the filling process. This solution is robust, flexible and depending on the configuration suitable for both lower and higher capacities.

  • weighing on platform scale
  • flexible use for different containers
  • compact system design
  • suitable for manual, semi-automatic and automated concepts

Big bag inflation device for easy handling

A big bag inflation device simplifies filling and improves the shape stability. The big bag is opened and shaped before filling, allowing the product to flow in more evenly. Especially in automated or semi-automated lines, the inflation device is an important element for clean and repeatable operation.

  • easier handling
  • more uniform shape and filling process
  • reduced creasing
  • more stable pallet patterns
  • higher process reliability

Pneumatic loop hooks and ergonomic operation

Pneumatically operated loop hooks make it easier to attach and release big bags. This relieves the operator and makes the filling process safer and more comfortable.

Lifting, lowering, settling and stacking of short big bags

For uniform filling and a stable shape, big bag filling systems can be equipped with lifting and lowering functions.

For short big bags, the system can also be designed so that two big bags are stacked on one pallet. The operator always attaches the big bags at an ergonomic working height. The filling point is then automatically moved to the correct filling position for the lower or upper big bag. Sensors detect the respective position or container height and support automatic height adjustment of the filling unit. This solution is particularly interesting for companies that process not only standard 1,000 kg but also short 500 to 600 kg big bags efficiently and ergonomically.

  • ergonomic attachment of big bags at operator-friendly height
  • automatic positioning for lower and upper container layer
  • space-saving stacking of two short big bags on one pallet
  • better utilization of pallet and storage space
  • more uniform big bag shape
  • more stable pallet pattern
  • reduced operator effort

Low-dust operation through aspiration

For clean and safe operation, our big bag filling systems are equipped with aspiration spouts. Dust and displaced air are captured during filling and guided to the dedusting system.

  • treated seed
  • dusty products
  • food raw materials
  • sensitive production areas
  • systems with high hygiene or occupational safety requirements

Automation and control

Depending on requirements, big bag filling systems can be equipped with PLC control, visualization and data interfaces. This allows the entire filling process to be monitored, controlled and integrated into higher-level plant concepts.

  • automatic dosing and weighing
  • control of filling and closing functions
  • visualization of process status
  • recipe and weight settings
  • data exchange with higher-level control systems
  • safety checks via sensors and light barriers
  • integration of roller conveyors, belt conveyors and pallet handling

Integration into complete packaging lines

Big bag filling systems can be implemented as standalone stations or as part of a complete packaging line. Depending on the task, we integrate product feeding, buffer hoppers, weighing hoppers, conveying technology, discharge, pallet handling, bagging, palletizing, controls and safety technology. This creates a filling solution precisely matched to product, capacity, container and operating concept.
