Cleaning line for pulses

Pulses Cleaning Line

Gentle cleaning of abrasive and break-sensitive products

For this project, a new cleaning line for pulses was integrated into an existing building. The plant is designed especially for products such as peas, beans and other pulses.

The focus was on high cleaning quality, particularly gentle product handling and a robust execution for abrasive products. Especially with pulses, the technical design is critical: seed breakage must be minimized, while product-contact areas need to be protected against increased wear.

Insights

For raw product intake we supplied a big bag intake hopper with controlled product feeding into a product gentle continuous bucket conveyor.

Before the main cleaning process, light particles such as dust, loose hulls and other light fractions are removed by a aspirator. The product is then buffered in an intermediate bin. An integrated bean ladder supports gentle filling and reduces drop impact on the product.

At the heart of the cleaning line is a Cimbria DELTA 117 seed cleaner. The machine combines screen cleaning and aspiration and is designed for high requirements in cleaning quality, separation accuracy and product handling. Depending on product and quality target, coarse material, fines and light particles can be separated reliably.

A Cimbria SEA.IQ PLUS optical sorter is also available to ensure perfect sorting results. This latest-generation sorter detects differences in color, shape, size and surface density, and reliably and precisely removes any contaminants it detects.

After cleaning, the product is conveyed onward gently and can be filled into big bags or boxes. Separate product routes are provided for clean product, rejects and side fractions, allowing the individual fractions to be handled separately. The newly installed aspiration system with jet filter ensures dust-free operation of the plant.

Highlights

A key requirement was the combination of gentle conveying and wear-resistant execution. Pulses are sensitive to breakage, but their weight and surface structure can also cause increased wear on product-contact components.

For this reason, critical areas such as transfer points, hoppers, machine inlets, outlets and product pipework were equipped with suitable wear protection liners. At the same time, the product flow was designed to avoid unnecessary drop heights, hard transfer points and abrupt changes in direction wherever possible.

The integration into an existing building also placed demands on layout planning and engineering. All plant components had to be precisely coordinated with the existing building structure.

The result is a modern pulses cleaning line that combines high cleaning quality, gentle product handling, robust execution and precise integration into an existing building.
